I took this picture on Sanibel Island in southwest Florida last week. I love that Reed and his daddy are matching in their blue shirts, which only make their blue eyes bluer. This moment captures Reed’s personality so well. A sweetness with just a hint of silliness. Cuddling up on Daddy’s shoulder after a long seashell hunt….and licking him. I remember this shot, too, because I was close enough to hear Reed’s laugh! He has this low, staccato kind of laugh that you’ll miss if you’re in too big of a hurry.

Inspired by this Maria Lin article, I want to share who Reed is, not just his accomplishments and my transforming. Lin says it best this way: “I want to know about your kid’s personality, too, which is probably more interesting than his or her achievements, anyway. No matter how impaired a child is, he or she has a personality and a spirit, and the parent knows it. Let’s start talking about who our kids are rather than what they can do.”

A Little Personality
